Senior AIDES

Senior AIDES is a federally funded Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). SCSEP fosters and promotes useful, part-time opportunities in community service for unemployed, low-income people ages 55 and older with poor employment prospects; the program also fosters individual economic self-sufficiency and increases the number of older people who may enjoy the benefits ofunsubsidized employment in the public and private sectors. Senior AIDES is funded by Senior Service America, Inc., a national SCSEP sponsor, through grants from the US Department of Labors’ Division of Older Worker Programs.  SCSEP participants are assigned to work 20 hours per week (12 hours weekly effetive June 2011 due to funding cuts) for host agencies (non-profit or government agencies). While in the program participants gain the skills and confidence necessary to obtain and maintain unsubsidized employment.
