UWCFA honors local workplaces at 2011 Campaign Celebration and Awards Breakfast

United Way of the Cape Fear Area honored local companies yesterday, May 2 at Coastline Convention Center.  The annual Campaign Celebration and Awards Breakfast recognized local workplaces that have run exceptional United Way workplace campaigns during the 2011 campaign year.

Highest honors went to GE Wilmington, winner of the Spirit of Cape Fear Award.  This award, chosen by UWCFA Board of Directors, goes annually to the company that has the highest level of employee participation and the highest employee per capita contribution, while demonstrating strong involvement and support to UWCFA, maintaining strong corporate support and creativity in relating the message of LIVE UNITED to their employees.  Previous winners include Corning, Inc. and SunTrust Banks.

New awards for this year's Celebration included a Community Impact Award, to recognize the workplace that contributed the highest amount directly to UWCFA's Community Impact Fund, and an Emerging Leader of the Year Award to honor an outstanding volunteer from the affinity group.  Winners of the new awards were Wilmington Box Company and Adam Gilbert of Blueberry Fusion, respectively.
